2019
Bruce Lee painting for Tommii Lim's homecoming LA solo exhibition 'ODD MAN OUT' at Avenue Des Arts Gallery DTLA.
“ODD MAN OUT is a journal to myself asking, ‘Which me am I today?’" Lim's showpiece is a 10 foot depiction of Bruce Lee titled ‘Chino’. “During my youth, growing up as an asian in LA, I hated Bruce Lee, he was a derogatory racial slur that kids used to call all the asians. The racism back then made me want to shun my heritage and conform to the 'norm' of America. As I got older, I realized how disruptive and important Bruce Lee was for everyone especially minorities. He showed me that my strengths lie within the individuality and differences that helps define who I am today. I learned to embrace and have pride in my Asian American heritage integrated into the American ethos. Bruce Lee was the perfect symbol to represent 'ODD MAN OUT' as ‘Chino’ is a reflection of the baggage I shunned as a youth transformed into the foundation of my existence today.”
Tommii Lim was named the guest creative director of ASIF’s spring / summer 2016 line. This collaboration between the future sneaker line and Tommii Lim marked the inaugural season for the Tommii Lim x ASIF Sona Moon Boot.
A concept silhouette created to supplant the idea that utilitarian pieces can never orbit the world of high fashion. In concept, Sona is a sneaker built on top of ASIF’s signature ultra-light running bottom. In effect, however, the Sona is a moon-boot inspired foot brace utilizing three oversized straps. These medial in-step sided strap enclosures offer a new take on shoe stability and security.
Only two hundred we’re produced and offered in Stealth Black and Base White with a LIMited edition box and set designed by Tommii Lim.

‘SPACE X TIME’ Optical Sculpture by Tommii Lim feat. Null-LA + Balloonski
Inspired by Elon Musk, SpaceX, NASA & 2001: Space Odyssey. Space X Time uses forced perspective and anamorphic illusion techniques to portray a SpaceX astronaut from the future discovering a monolith structure made up of found artifacts from the past. The sculptural mural juxtaposes past present and future with a tower that disappears and reappears into a giant SpaceX astronaut observing the past, pondering the present, imagining the future.

ODD MAN OUT by Tommii Lim
LA Solo Exhibition
Opening Reception: Saturday, April 27 (7pm – 12am)
Exhibition: April 27 - May 18
Avenue Des Arts (807 S. Los Angeles St, Los Angeles, CA 90014)
After traveling the world creating murals in this countries, Tommii Lim makes his return to the gallery world for his homecoming LA solo exhibition ‘ODD MAN OUT’ at Avenue Des Arts gallery in DTLA.
Lim is an artist from Los Angeles. His works are high contrast minimalist black and white depictions of observations and memories. His distinct style has been described as a sleek seduction of lines that often capture movement in moments.
He has spent the greater part of the last decade creating murals and immersive installations around the globe including projects with Kobe Bryant, Nike, Google, Steph Curry, Under Armour, Belzberg Architects, Mark & Lona (Japan), Honda, and was managed by the late Karl Bornstein (MOCA, Patrick Nagel).
Lim makes his return to the gallery world with his homecoming LA solo exhibition ‘ODD MAN OUT’, where he depicts his take on identity in today’s ‘15 seconds of fame’ generation.
‘ODD MAN OUT’ is Lim’s most honest body of work to date. The show encompasses his faults, strengths and the questions he asks himself daily. Works include large format paintings, prints, sculptures, mirrors and a giant balloon installation.
FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES
A black and white group exhibition by Bloody Gums (basement gallery)
With small beginnings amongst a group of friends, Bloody Gums has grown to a collective of young creatives in the ‘underground’ shadows of the LA art world. They are major players in the rising DTLA skid row art scene and are unapologetic for their DIY, skater, graffiti, vandalistic ways of creating theme park esque, acid tripped environments. They thrive on community and live by the mantra of the sum being greater than the parts.
They have collaborated on projects with Beyond The Streets, Adidas, Vans, Delicious Vinyl, Young And Reckless, CBNC, Dimepiece LA, and have gained a cult following for their ‘LA Is Trying To Kill Me’ annual group exhibition.
Bloody Gums mirrors Tommii Lim’s ‘ODD MAN OUT’ in their exhibition, ‘Friends In Low Places’ by showcasing new black and white paintings, illustrations, sculptures, film photography and video installations created by their selected artists.

The Absence Of Color
A Tommii Lim solo exhibition and ASIF pop-up
LA
LA based artist Tommii Lim and Rich Cofinco’s ASIF (As See In the Future) future sneaker brand collaborated on a one night pop up exhibition titled ‘The Absence Of Color‘ in DTLA.
The event highlighted and combined the recent works of Tommii Lim’s fresh and bold minimal black and white art with the newly anticipated season of ASIF’s sleek new line integrated through out the three story penthouse space.
The pairing of the two within the black and white furnished environment worked as a seamless marriage of art meeting design through a minimal, sleek and monotone visual language. Every detail in the exhibition was hand selected and created to view inside the scope of Tommii Lim and ASIF’s combined worlds. The event was recorded in Virtual Reality and attendees were able to view an interactive 3D VR interview of Tommii Lim immersed in his art work filmed by Steve Tamago Yoon. The over capacity night also had appearances by celebrities like actor Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), James Roh from Far East Movement, celebrity chef Chris Oh (Seoul Sausage), actor C.S. Lee (Dexter) and a live rooftop performance by up and coming indie synth band Neonderthal.
